Edward J. Naprstek, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his home in Lexington.
He was born October 13, 1925, at Elba, Nebraska, to Edward V. and Anna (Novotony) Naprstek. Ed attended grade school at Elba and then Ord High School. He left high school before graduation to go into the Navy during WWII. He served his country proudly from January 15, 1944 until being honorably discharged on May 10, 1946. In 2000, Ed was awarded his high school diploma, he was so proud.
Ed was united in marriage to Evelyn Oelkers on May 5, 1948, at Salem Lutheran Church. Two daughters were blessed to this marriage; Janice and Pamela. During Ed’s working years he was employed by International Harvester, owned and operated Ed’s Liquor and retired as a parts man from Midway Supply in Lexington.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, polka music, going for long drives with the grandsons and lively conversation with his buddies at the Vet’s Club. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would give you the shirt off his back if needed. To say Ed had an opinion about everything is an understatement, but you always knew where you stood with him. He will be so very missed by his loving family and many friends.
