Vince F. Urban, 63, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Vince was born September 19, 1947, at Columbus, Nebraska to Raymond and Libbie (Smrz) Urban. He attended District #61 country school near Clarkson, then town school through the 11th grade at Clarkson and graduated from Schuyler High School with the class of 1965. Vince then went on to further his education at Kearney State College where he was a member of the Theta Xi Fraterntiy and played football and was on the Championship team. He graduated from college in 1969, with his teaching degree. Vince taught physical education and was the wrestling coach at Arapahoe High School until 1974, and then taught and coached wrestling at McCook High School.
He was confirmed and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler, Nebraska.

He was an avid outdoorsman and always active in the Ducks Unlimited organization. At the time of his death he was Nebraska State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited.
Vince never missed watching his beloved NFL football team the Chicago Bears and loved get-togethers with his fellow football team members from his Kearney State College days. He was an unselfish man and as a final gift he donated his eyes to the Lions Eye Bank.
He was united in marriage to Lila (Stoll) Lerdall on December 29, 1997, at Las Vegas, Nevada. When asked why he waited until he was 50 years old to get married, he always said, “I was waiting for the right family.” He welcomed Lila’s daughters, Katie and Heidi as his own and enjoyed being involved in all of the girls’ activities and endeavors; Heidi with her sports and Katie with her special needs.
