Lloyd E. Barta, Sr., 76, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Lloyd was born July 26, 1934, at Overton, Nebraska, to Mike G. and Eva A. (Warner) Barta. He attended school in the Sumner area. Following his schooling, Lloyd worked on the farm until entering the United States Army on July 11, 1957. He served his country and was honorably discharged on July 10, 1959.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Louise Johnson on June 7, 1964, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. The couple moved and made their home in Lexington since 1965. Pat preceded Lloyd in death in 1997. He was fortunate enough to find love again and was united in marriage to Opal Brown Berry on August 15, 1999, at Lexington.
Lloyd loved to dance and was the original “Handyman” of the area. He loved to tinker with many projects and so enjoyed spending time with his family. Lloyd also loved to garden and read.

Sandy and Tom Bevacqua of Greenfield, Massachusetts
Terry and Shari Berry of Longview, Texas
Twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

One sister: Dorothy and Marvin Linder of Cozad, Nebraska
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Patricia; four brothers, George, Frank, Ed and Chester Barta; four sisters, Mildred, Leora, Edna and Martha.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Michael Gruhn officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Grand Generation Center.
