Dennis Lee “Denny” Waddle, 60, of Elwood, Nebraska, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his home near Elwood.
He was born May 29, 1950, at Concordia, Kansas to Clyde C. and Esther Rosalie (Carver) Waddle. Denny was a 1968 graduate of Superior High School, he then attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska and graduated from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Denny was united in marriage to Boni Leigh Moranville on August 8, 1970, at Mitchell, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Brandon Scott and Keeley Patricia.
He began his career in radio at KRVN in Lexington as an announcer then later went into sales. He then went on to become the Regional Manager of Asgrow, which later became Monsanto. Because he truly enjoyed his work and everyone he worked with, Denny earned many sales awards throughout the years with Monsanto. This job took the family to many different areas of the country; such as Lexington/Cozad area; Ankeny, Iowa; Hannibal, Missouri; Richland, Michigan; West Des Moines, Iowa; and Lake Panorama, Iowa. They returned to Nebraska, to Grand Island and then settled at Johnson Lake, Nebraska and later built his dream "ranch" on property near Elwood. After returning to KRVN, he was honored with the Dix Harper Meritorious Service Award at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting in November, 2010.
Regardless of where his career took him, he always found a church home. He was active in different roles and is currently a member of the Parkview Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee. He was a man of deep faith and integrity who believed in treating others as he would like to be treated.
Denny was a fun, outgoing, energetic guy who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren on the farm. He and the grandkids spent many hours on horse, rhino and tractor rides. He enjoyed golfing at Lake Panorama and Lakeside, duck hunting at Stuttgart, Arkansas, and turkey hunting in Missouri.
