Roberta M. “Bobbie” Burmood, 94, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Ne died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney.
She was born to Edward Henry & Ethel May (Jones) Oliver on May 24, 1916 in Shelton. Bobbie grew up on a farm near Shelton and attended Shelton School.
She was united in marriage to Sheridan Z. “Tex” Burmood on October 25, 1940. Bobbie lived with Tex parents while he served in the U.S. Navy. Two boys were born to this union: Dennis and Michael. After Tex got out of the service he worked as a cable splice & lineman, so the family traveled with Tex from Iowa, Illinois, North & South Dakota and western Nebraska. In 1957 they moved to Lexington and retired here.
Bobbie was an active member of Bonneville Chapter D.A.R. She held the office of regent from 1971-1973, was the historian, chaplain plus held other offices for forty two years. She was a fifty year member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Her greatest interests and love was her family. She loved to cook, sew, gardening, reading Western books, rodeos and taking rides in Kim’s jeep. She will be greatly missed.

Michael and wife Pam Burmood of Tucson, Arizona
Five grandchildren: Kim Burmood and friend Kevin of Hastings, Nebraska; Chris and wife Deanna Burmood of Lincoln, Nebraska; Ben Burmood of Lincoln, Nebraska; Cassi and husband Will Mossburg of Omaha, Nebraska; Bryon and wife Laura of Tucson, Arizona
Two step-grandchildren: Lisa and husband Joe Acuna of Whittier, California and Mellisa Aden of Tucson, Arizona

Two sisters: Ann and husband Lynn DeLaet of Kearney, Nebraska
Josephine Oliver of Kearney, Nebraska
One brother: Nelson Oliver of Shelton, Nebraska
Numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tex of 53 years, five brothers: Everett, Gilbert, Stuart, George & Kenny; two sisters: Evelynn and Lucille and two great-grandchildren Hallie Brook Burmood & Jackson Mossburg.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Pastor Caroline Vickery, officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery
