Carol Louise Suchy, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Carol was born on September 18, 1921, near North Platte, Nebraska, the middle of three girls born to Rennie and Lillian (Carpenter) Mueller. Her family moved to Lexington when Carol was age two. She received her high school diploma from Lexington High School in 1938. She taught school at Eddyville and then attended Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney.
Carol was united in marriage to Leonard Joe Suchy on April 18, 1942, and to this union five children were born: Susan Carol, Jane Louise, Leonard Joe Jr., Rebecca Ruth, and John Charles. The Suchys made their home in Des Moines, Iowa, where Carol was a homemaker. On May 16, 1986, Carol was preceded in death by her husband Leonard. Several years later, she returned to her hometown of Lexington. Carol enjoyed music, bowling, reading, and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters: Susan Donohoe and her husband Larry of Gordon, Texas; Jane Knowles and her husband Larry of Cedaredge, Colorado; and Rebecca Easton and her husband Steve of Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by her two sons: Joe and his wife Lynne of Edmond, Oklahoma; and John and his wife Maureen of Bentonville, Arkansas. Carol had 15 grandchildren: Mike Donohoe (and wife Ginger) of Katy, Texas; Katy Lord (and husband Eddie) of Rising Star, Texas; Kristin Pfaff (and husband Don) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Tom Knowles (and wife Holly) of Meeker, Colorado; Scott Suchy (and wife Kelly) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Shannon Peregrin (and husband Mark) of Edmond, Oklahoma; Shay Payne (and husband Kyle) of Maryville, Missouri; Jeff Thompson (and wife Lydia) of Mansfield, Texas; Todd Easton of Wichita, Kansas; Kerry Hammett (and husband Andrew) of Alexandria, Virginia; Elizabeth Easton of Dallas, Texas; and Benjamin Suchy, Erin Suchy, Lauren Suchy, and Cameron Suchy, all of Bentonville, Arkansas. Carol also had twenty great-grandchildren and many cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Ruth Mueller and Barbara Hartman.
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. The Casket will be closed.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visiting hours with the family will be held Sunday, March 6, 2011, from 4-6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
