Karolyn Kay (Hagan) Taylor

April 21, 1943 — February 20, 2011

Karolyn Kay (Hagan) Taylor 67, of Orleans lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at her home in Orleans. She was born April 21, 1943, at Lexington, Nebraska to Francis and Velma (Sides) Hagan, Sr. Karolyn grew up around the Lexington area and later married the love of her life, John Taylor on May 26, 1961, at Lexington. The couple made their home in the Overton, Nebraska area in the beginning and then moved to Smithfield, Nebraska and resided there 40 years until moving to a small acreage outside of Orleans, Nebraska with a beautiful view of the Republican River. Karolyn was baptized and received communion on Christmas Eve of 2010 by Pastors Dave Irwin and Neil Collins of the Presbyterian Church in Orleans. She always loved the Lord and was an avid fan of Evangelist Jack Van Impe. Karolyn will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was infamous for her cake decorating skills throughout her family and always supplied all of us with lots of homemade candies at Christmastime. She was a huge fan of Paula Dean and the cooking network. The family will always remember her generous and loving ways in which she treated us. Karolyn always enjoyed visits from her nieces and nephews throughout the years. Family was the most important part of Karolyn’s life. She lived for her husband, children and grandchildren and will be so very missed. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 50 years: John Taylor of Orleans, Nebraska Children: Charles (Mert) Taylor of Benkleman, Nebraska Kim (Tom) Bock of Rockford, Illinois John Taylor, II of Orleans, Nebraska Sonya (James) Cassidy of Holdrege, Nebraska LaRae Taylor of Holdrege, Nebraska Joshua Taylor of Orleans, Nebraska Nine grandchildren: Jemie(Charlie) Lemmon of Ellis, Kansas; Tim Taylor of Benkleman, Nebraska; Kristina (Austin) Cassaro of Juda, Wisconsin; T.J. Bock of Rockford, Illinois; Kellie Bock of Rockford, Illinois; Adam Cassidy of Holdrege, Nebraska; Brittany Cassidy of Holdrege, Nebraska; Matt and Taylor Rice both of Holdrege, Nebraska. Seven great-grandchildren: Alaysia, Dusty, Bailey, Hunter, Austin, & Kendra of Ellis, Kansas, and Asher of Juda, Wisconsin. One sister: Marilyn Creed of Bear, Delaware One brother: Francis Hagan, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona Special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Beloved Charline Harris of Broadwater, Nebraska; Norm Taylor of Overton, Nebraska; Jim (Monica) Taylor of Savannah, Tennessee; Loretta Hagan of Belvidere, Illinois; Walter Flint of Elwood, Nebraska. Special Niece: Gail (Paul) Johnson of Stockville, Nebraska and other nieces; Debbie, Paula, Patty, Sandy, Cheryl and Stephanie and nephews, Dudley, Dwight, Kent and James. Several grand-nephews and nieces. Karolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Francis, Sr. and Velma (Sides) Hagan; one brother, James Hagan; two sisters, Laura Hagan and Verna Mae Flint and one special niece, Vicky Bray. The Family has honored Karolyn’s wishes that her body be cremated. There will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be Friday, February 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Taylor Family for later designation.
