Gary L. Nitsch, 64, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Bryan LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Gary was born October 12, 1946, at McCook, Nebraska to Arvene and Deloris (West) Nitsch.
He graduated from Hayes Center High School with the class of 1965. He then went to Tech School in Denver, Colorado. Following his schooling, Gary served his Country in the United States Army from December 14, 1966 until being honorably discharged on May 15, 1968. He lived many places in Nebraska and moved to the Lexington/Overton area in 1984. He worked for DeBruce Grain, Cornland, and the lumberyard in Overton.
He was united in marriage to Naomi Uhre in 1971 at Rapid City, South Dakota. Two children were born to this marriage; Tammy and Arvene. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting everyone else’s “Junk”, spending time with his McDonald’s buddies or better known at the “McDonald’s Coffee Crew”. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include one son: Arvene Nitsch of Lexington, Nebraska
One daughter: Tammy (Ross) Farr of Scott City, Kansas
One brother: Clayton Nitsch of Lexington, Nebraska
One sister: Bonnie (Carl) Raastad of Cozad, Nebraska
Two grandchildren: Dakota and Kolby Farr of Scott city, Kansas
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and one half-brother, Kirk Meyer.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Burial will be with Military Honors in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
