George F. Maloley, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
He was born December 9, 1927, on the home place southeast of Lexington, Nebraska in Dawson County, to Fred and Julia (Saad) Maloley.
George attended District #17 rural school. He was united in marriage to Lynda Gardner in December of 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Lexington. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Nick, Jody, Jeff and Skip. He served his Country in the United States Army.
He loved the farm and taking care of the livestock. As a young man he so enjoyed selling produce and visiting with the customers. George lived for the times he could spend with this grandchildren, he loved to tell stories, tease, attend the Denver Stock Show, going to the Lexington sale barn, playing cards, especially pitch and pinnocle. On any given Saturday during football season, you could find George at the games cheering on his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers.
George was a member of St. George Orthodox Church in Kearney as well as the American Legion and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include three sons: Nick (Sandy) Maloley of North Glenn, Colorado
Jeff (Stacy) Malooley of Kearney, Nebraska
Skip (Julie) Maloley of Omaha, Nebraska
One daughter: Jody Maloley of New Castle, Colorado
One sister: Sally (Jim) Meehan of Denver, Colorado
Three sisters-in-law: Marcia Maloley, Beverly Maloley and Kay Maloley all of Lexington, Nebraska
Eleven grandchildren: Josh Boyce of Commerce City, Colorado; Kaitlyn & Shaylee Maloley of New Castle, Colorado; Jared & McKenna Malooley of Kearney, Nebraska; Madeline, Meredith, Samuel, Caroline, Clara, Jacob George and Zachary Maloley of Omaha, Nebraska
One great-grandson: Kayden Boyce of Commerce City, Colorado
George was also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Esa, Anthony & Fay.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church in Kearney with Reverends Christopher Morris and Philip Vreeland officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. with Military Honors at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
Trisagion Service will be Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. with visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or Central Plains Home Health in Cozad.
